Solving the piano bar puzzle (Resident Evil)

In the mansion there is a distinctly mellow and relaxing location containing a grand piano and a cocktail bar. At first glance this room seems to hold little significance, there are no other doors. However, once you have acquired a set of sheet music notes, accessible by pushing aside a cabinet in the north east corner of the room, it becomes strikingly clear what you must do.

How to solve

Once you have the sheet music, you can examine it to reveal that it is Beethoven's “Moonlight Sonata”. If you then proceed to use this item on the piano, it will trigger a cut-scene. The nature of the cut-scene will be different depending on who you are playing as.

If you are playing as Jill, she has the knowhow to read sheet music and starts playing the piano in perfect fashion. If however you are playing as Chris, he does not have this musical knowledge, and instead starts randomly hitting keys. But thankfully Rebecca enters the room and volunteers to have a go at playing, at which point you have no choice but to let her practice until she's able to play it perfectly. Upon re-entering the bar after letting her practice, she will play the tune with all the right notes.

So once the whole tune has been successfully played on the piano, a hidden room reveals itself on the northern wall. Inside this room is a stone statue of Beethoven himself, and at its base is a golden emblem that can be removed. However upon removing it, the entrance to this secret room will close, leaving you trapped inside until you restore the emblem back into the statue.

You need this emblem to take with you to solve the second part of this puzzle, therefore you need a different object to keep the secret room's doorway open. The item you must use is the standard wooden emblem, which is located in another room of the mansion. Swap the two emblems around in the statue and you can leave the bar with the gold one.
